Description: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in tourism management and additional subjects based on programmatic need and the candidate’s expertise. Courses to be taught may include introduction to travel industry management, economics of tourism, geography of global tourism, sociocultural issues in tourism, global tourism analysis, travel distribution systems, sustainable tourism policies and practices, strategic management in the travel industry, destination development and marketing, and tourism policy and planning. Engage in research and scholarly activities leading to publications; provide professional, university, and department service; advise undergraduate and graduate students; and supervise graduate student research.

Description: The EXPERIENCE INDUSTRY MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, invites applications for a tenure‐track, academic year position. Starting date is negotiable, but on or before September 13, 2018, is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses, and graduate level courses in the Experience Industry Management Department, and courses specific to an area of expertise in Tourism, Hospitality & Destination Management. Examples of potential courses may include: Experiential Marketing Strategies for Experience Industry Management, Destination Management, Sport & Event Venue Management, Professionalism & Customer Experiences, Destination & Hospitality Analytics, Principles of Experience Industry Management, Introduction to the Experience Industry, Experience Program Design, and Financial Management in the Experience Industry.

Duties may also include, but are not limited to, supervision of undergraduate senior projects, graduate student research, student advising, and teaching graduate level courses and/or in a Master of Professional Studies or certificate program. The successful candidate is expected to participate in scholarly activities (i.e., research, grant writing, publications, presentations) in an area of expertise directly related to Tourism, Hospitality & Destination Management as part of his/her professional development. The successful candidate is also expected to provide service on committees for the department, college, and university and participate in instructionally related activities. Expectations also include service to local, state, national, tourism and/or destination management related professional organizations.
